Buck Steel only sells commercial-grade, pre-engineered, I-beam style metal buildings. I-beam style buildings have main frames made from 1/4″ thick plate steel welded into I-beams and heavy-duty 26GA or 24GA roof and wall panels. Buck Steel does not sell tube steel, cold form, or wood framed buildings.

Buck Steel is not an architect, residential general contractor, or lender — we do not provide design services, contractor referrals, or financing assistance. However, if you meet the following criteria, we may be able to quote the metal building materials portion of your barndominium project:
• You own land
• You have a complete set of stamped architectural plans for your project (not just a floor plan from a barndominium website)
• You’ve selected a licensed residential general contractor
• You have funding in place

We understand that due to setback requirements, zoning, and/or HOA rules, custom size buildings are sometimes required and will gladly customize the size of any of our buildings to meet your needs.

No. Buck Steel is not a General Contractor and as such, we don’t get involved with anything that happens at the jobsite. Buck Steel takes care of having building kits engineered, fabricated, and delivered to the jobsite along with a set of Stamped Engineered Building Plans for permitting needs. Buck Steel can also provide Stamped Engineered Foundation Plans, which will be needed for permitting and for the concrete contractor pouring the slab for the project. Depending on the size, complexity and location of the project, we might be able to assist with locating an erecting crew.

Yes, Buck Steel metal buildings are bolt together kits that are erected in a fraction of the time it would take to construct a similar size structure using traditional building methods. For example, a small 40′ x 60′ metal garage can be erected by an experienced erecting crew in as little as 7-10 days.

Yes. I-beam buildings are sometimes referred to as “red-iron” buildings because of the red primer  used to coat the primary (I-beams) and secondary (purlins & girts) framing at the factory. I-beam buildings that have galvanized secondary framing usually have their primary frames coated using grey primer  at the factory. Additionally, some of our customers have chosen to paint their primary and secondary frames white  during the erecting process.

No! In our nearly 20 years in business, we have had only two legitimate instances where a customer has walked away from a building after releasing the project into production. The “cancelled order” sales pitch is primarily used by the telemarketers and high-pressure sales hustlers in the steel building industry to get you to purchase a bargain building quickly. Wall panels, roof panels, and most trim have a wide variety of color options which we have worked very hard to accurately represent on our Color Options  page. Please note that the colors listed on our website are for reference only and might vary from actual colors depending on your computer monitor, phone, tablet, lighting and other factors. We always recommend picking building colors from a printed chart or painted color samples, both available upon request.
